We're home
We arrived back home last week. Our good weather down south was interrupted occasionally by rain and wind, on overall it was cool, however, in between that we had some sunny weather. In any event it is always good to get home.
Just in time too. Mother has gotten her single room this week and today moved into it, she was a happy camper. She called just after we got back in a chipper mood, to tell us the lady next door had died and maybe she would get the room. We just had to laugh, despite incongruity of her comment. Oh well, that is just the way it is in a Care home I guess; one's misfortune is another one's gain.
So, it starts, we will be moving some of her stuff out of the garage tomorrow and some bigger stuff on the week-end. We will get our garage back.
We got all our mail from Lyn they are doing fine and the garage conversion to workshop is coming along fine. David and Tena are back from Mexico and had a great time. We talked to Charlene up North and things are well there too. Michael recently biked from New Aiyansh to Terrace, a 100 km journey and apparently scared everyone by not calling in when he was done. Rachel is in Hawaii and we got a post card today, she's fine and having fun on the beach. Chelsea has the flu in the middle of exams, and is sad that Cole is heading to Prince George for 4 months. We suggested she come with us when we go to Terrace as we pass through Prince George on the way in and again on the way out. She thinks that is a great idea.
Rob, Sue, Carolyn and I went to a movie last night. "Date Night" with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. It was excellent and funny, well worth it if you are up for it.
Taxes are done, big refund coming, life is good.

Anniversary, 56 Chevy & homeward bound

Wednesday we got the necessary phone numbers to contact my cousin Leona and Dennis. So we gave them a call and went over to visit them. They have a very nice park model in a very nice park. They are doing well and were glad to see us as we were of them. After a couple of hours we agreed to meet again when we next come through Hemet, and may even stay in their park for a while.
Yesterday was our 49th Anniversary, and we celebrated by going with Sue & Rob as well as Leo and Sue Mosley to the Palm Springs Villagefest, street market. It was really quite good and much larger than we expected. Every Thursday they close up the main drag in town and turn it into a street market with a wide array of merchants selling everything from oranges to arts and crafts. There were street entertainers and a even booth "Ask the Rabbi". We expected maybe a few blocks, it had to be a mile long.
On our way into town, before the market, we stopped for dinner. Carolyn was to pick the restaurant and Sue & Rob were buying us our Anniversary dinner. On Spec. Carolyn picked Ricks Cuban American Restaurant and it was excellent. We all had great meals in a place that was fancy but reasonably priced. After parking we passed an antique car dealer which had the nicest array of old cars, many refurbished to a fine state, such as the 56 Chevy in the picture. Here it is our 49th anniversary and here is the car we had when we got married, exactly the same year and model in the exact colours; we remembered driving it away on our wedding day with the traditional tin cans and "just married" smeared on the back window.
Today we prepared our respective coaches and had a pot luck meal of Sue's Stew and the trimmings. Tomorrow we will say our goodbyes to Leo and Sue as they are headed to a park in Los Angeles and the rest of us are headed home. We will be there soon. Only 5 sleeps, maybe.

Happy Easter from Hemet, California.
We got together with Nat & Gerry. They had a gathering of about 30 park friends since many were leaving that weekend including us. It was a very nice pot luck supper, outside, despite the wind. It was nicely sheltered in their patio. We stayed for a visit after the dinner where we caught up on old times and new gossip in the small world of the Canadian Air Force.
Friday we pulled up stakes and headed for Hemet, Cal. where we will stay for a week before heading home. We are staying with Sue and Rob at the Golden Palm Village RV resort. Also Leo and Sue Mosley joined us for the week. Really great seeing them, as we haven't for quite some time. We all went out to dinner, last night, in one of our favourite restaurants the Steer and Stein and it was great as usual. The girls are out shopping today and Thursday we will be heading out to the Palm Springs street market, for something new to do for our 49th anniversary. It is an evening market and apparently there are some fine restaurants in the area, which we will have to try.
Looks like the weather will be fine for the week, with the exception of tomorrow, rain and cool with a high forecast of only 58 F (14 C for the metrically inclined). Rest of the week to be in the high 70's, so we will be able to take advantage of the fine pool they have here.
The news from home isn't great. Great winds have caused havoc on Southern Vancouver Island with many trees down, boat damage, power outages etc. Fortunately, no damage at Lyn's or Noni's places. It seems to have settled down for Easter though. Speaking of Easter, Mom was so looking forward to spending Easter dinner with Lyn and family, unfortunately the care home she is in, is locked down until further notice due to Norwalk virus. A couple of tenants have come down with it and so no one in or out except for staff. She is taking it in stride, just hoping she doesn't catch it herself.
Happy Easter to all,
Ciao
