Mirror is finally fixed.

The mirror has arrived and I installed it. I had checked last Friday to see that, perchance, if it was in and while the parts guy was on the phone checking its whereabouts, UPS shows up with and order, which turned out to be my mirror. They wouldn't have been able to install it until this week, so I thought that it couldn't be that difficult. Took me like 15 minutes at the most. It was straight-forward, and saved Robin (the guy that knocked it off) $120.00 per hour installation charge.

We are remaining in Yuma for the week before heading to Tucson for the month of Feb. We ran into Verne Hague at the Flea market and he suggested we join them and the Van Shaiks for lunch today, so we did. The place had Kobe Burgers, and they were delicious. John and Susan are headed for BLM lands at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) location and we are going over tomorrow night for appys 'n stuff.

The Kirkwoods and Spragues are in town from Quartzite for a few days and we were just over visiting them and catching up on weather war stories. We all had stories of the big storm last week.

Ciao.

Welcome to Yuma

We are in Yuma and still awaiting a mirror. It was ordered, but Monaco didn't have any in stock and had to back order it from the Manufacturer, and as of Monday it had been shipped, by ground transport and it will be another week before it gets here. Hmmmph. It kind of mucks up our plans somewhat. We were going to Quartzsite for a few days, but having arrived on the weekend here, were paid up til Friday and then have to be back here for the mirror. So we may just leave the MH here and take a day trip by car to the rally in Quartzsite, tomorrow (Wed 20). Weather forecast isn't great either for here or the rally, it looks like Wednesday is about the best.

The weekend was nice and warm and sunny though. To bad I was fighting off a cold. Carolyn had a bit of it but we are both good now.

That is a good bit of news about my Brother. Jack "is in a relationship" was announced on his FB status last Saturday. Her Name is Patsy Ann Martinez and in correspondence with yours truly she tells me she is mad about him. Good for him and good for them, Congrats.

On that happy note;
Ciao & Peace.

Travis stopover

Still mirrorless, but we are at Travis AFB campground thanks to Ken and Helen signing us in. Since it is taking time for our new mirror to arrive at the RV dealer in Yuma we are enjoying the company of the Kirkwoods and the Spragues, who arrive the same day. We will all be leaving on Thursday. They to the Salton Sea and we to Yuma. Hopefully we will have a new mirror installed on Monday, then off to the desert for a week at the Blue Bird Rally. We meet up with Sue and Rob there and will get to see their (new to them) Wanderlodge. Looking forward to that.

Yesterday we all went the the Jelly Belly Factory for a free tour, it was interesting, got to taste many different jelly bean flavors and saw how they are made and packaged; quite an operation. I never saw so many things in the gift shop that related to Jelly Bellys. We even had lunch (such as it was) there in their restaurant.

The weather has been cool and generally foggy, lots of rain last night, and more tonight, but supposed to be sunny on Thursday the day we leave.

Despite most of us having sore throats, in particular Helen and Carolyn its been a fun week.

Ciao & Peace

On the road and Mirrorless

We are currently at 7 Feathers and trip going well except while waiting on the ferry to disembark a motor home on my left took my driver's mirror off totally. Right at that time I was waved off the ferry, thought I would never see the guy again. He looked for, and found me at a gas station nearby, he was all apologetic, turns out he is a newbie to driving a motor home and wasn't watching as good as he should have. We exchange all pertinent info and he said he will pay for it when I get it fixed. That part was a relief, but do you know how hard it is to drive without a driver's mirror? very. Turns out that it would take 5 days wait for a mirror, so a taped a convex blind spot mirror to the empty mirror arm which is working fine and we will get it fixed in Yuma.

That has been the only excitement so far this trip. Fine otherwise. Think I'll head for the hot tub and a shower.

Ciao, peace.
