Quartzsite, SWBB, Casa Grande

We got to the SWBB (SouthWest Blue Bird) Rally in Quartzite on the 22nd.  As usual it was a great rally.  It had been going on for a couple of days before we got there, but started in earnest for the weekend.  We got to meet Randy and Carol, friends of Rob and Sue from Florida.  We have heard so much about them, it was like we knew them, and now we can put a face to them.   A very nice couple, whom we must visit if we get a chance to get out to Florida.  They are building a new house inside a warehouse in Georgia.   It is quite the place and pictures don't do it justice, so we must make the trip some time in the future.

One of the events was a "furry friends" contest.   Rob and Sue's new puppy Joey, all of 4 months old was entered in a Canadian costume, as seen above.
Of course he won best of show and there he is with a proud Mama. He was so cute, on the dogwalk he promptly laid down as if to take a nap.  I told Rob that he had trained him well, bwhahaha.

The whole event was great and it was wonderful to see many of the friends we made last year.

We left Monday for the Foothills RV park in Casa Grande, we arrived in timely fashion and settled in.  Ken & Helen we expecting us so they had us over for supper.  As usual it was a great meal, (can she cook or what, mmmmmm).  Lovely Pork loin, so tender you didn't need a knife.

Good to see them again, and we are neighbours this time.  Due to Wifi problems at the park they suggested we occupy an empty spot beside them and piggy back on their wifi.  Really nice of them, otherwise I'd be doing the walk to the clubhouse every time I wanted to connect.   Thank you Ken & Helen.

Tomorrow we are headed to rejoin Sue and Rob about 30 miles south of here at Picacho Peak and the four of us will visit Ron Wong, Cathy, and company, we haven't seen Ron since last year, Cathy and her husband and daughter visited Victoria this past summer.

Randy and Carol, were kind of enough to get me a digital converter, which I have installed and is working just great.  Analog, over the air, broadcasts end in the U.S. as of Feb 17, after which all over the air broadcasts are digital only.  We are get excellent reception using it thanks to them.

Well that's about all the news that's fit to print.

Till next time..........
ta ta & peace.

Yuma, movie and warm weather

A very nice relaxing and warm week in Yuma.  Got a few more minor repairs done on the MH, otherwise we relaxed, read, and took in a movie, "Marley and Me" and we really enjoyed it.  Marley was very much like "Biff" the dog Carolyn had when she was a kid.  Plus with all the dogs we have had since we have been married we could really relate.  Very funny and thoroughly enjoyable.

All is good on the home front.  Mom is still doing well.  She had Lyn over for dinner last Friday,  Lyn is a sweetheart looking after her.

We have a tenant in our house from now until the end of Feb.  A friend of Noni's from Campbell river needed a place to stay while she got treatments for a recurring cancer so we volunteered our place.  Nice to have someone in the place instead of empty.

Well he "who shall not be named" has retired and Obama is in,  you could hear the sigh of relief all over the land.

In a couple of days we will be in Quartzite on the desert.

Well that's it from me and that's it from Carolyn.

Ciao, and Peace.

Sun, Hemet, Sun, Yuma, Sun

I hate to keep bringing it up but we haven't seen a cloud in 10 days.  We have made the move from Hemet to Yuma and will be here a week.  The stay at Hemet was great, got a lot of work done on the rig, spent time in the pool, hot tub and gym, and generally enjoyed ourselves.

We didn't get to see Leona and Dennis, but it turns out their email address doesn't work here.  So we never connected.   We did lots of walking with Joey, what an active little puppy, Sue and Rob have a hand ful with that one.

We got to a movie: "7 pounds"  Very well done, uplifting and depressing at the same time, we enjoyed it, although Carolyn didn't go as she was well aware of the plot and she don't do depressing.

The trip to Yuma was quick and uneventful.   We are trying a new park called Las Quintas Oasis. It is very nice.   It was one that Tony and Ann had stayed at some time ago and they liked it.  We will be looking up some old friends here before rejoining Sue and Rob at Quartzite.

Been calling Mom and the kids and all seems well back home.  Of course the Pharmacy had to screw up the prescription the first time when we are away, after 8 months of doing everything right.  Lyn handled it.

In the meantime feet up, a good book, sunny weather, what more can one ask for.

Cute cute picture of Remy on Catherine's blog.  What a sweetie.

Ciao

Hemet and Warm Weather :>)

We departed on the second and today we are in Hemet California.  Sunny and warm and it feels good.  The trip went down went well, and we got through the Siskiyous pass with no difficulty.  Last year we had to go around it via the coast, this year it was fine.  Once on the southern side we had to get the Rig and car washed to get rid of all the dirt and salt.  The weather after that was great.

We will be here for about a week before we head to Yuma while Rob and Sue head for Quartzite.  We will join them later for the South West Blue Bird Rally.  We are looking forward to that.  We are, of course, SOB's (Some Other Brand) since we don't own a Blue Bird Wanderlodge Motor home.

This is our third time at the Golden Village Palm resort. It is very comfortable with a great location, that is not far from the In-N-Out Burger and Dairy Queen.   What more can you ask for other that a Tim Horton's which doesn't exist in this part of North America.

Well time to get the bicycle out and get some exercise.

Ciao.
