Happy Birthday Mom
Mom's 90th birthday party was a great success. We had 28 in attendance, many from far and wide, such as Jack in from Oklahoma, and his girl friend Connie from Texas. Other family members from Manitoba, Alberta, Vancouver, and a surprise visit from Northern BC, Michael and Charlene. Noni came in from Comox and the rest were all local Victorians.
Mom was in fine spirits and enjoyed seeing many she hasn't seen for a while. You can see on the left that she was having a good time. She enjoyed all the fuss and at the end didn't want to go home because she didn't want to miss anything.
However, she had to share centre stage with her newest great grand daughter and was proud to do so. What a sweetie she is. As many pictures of her was taken as there was of Mom. And everyone wanted to hold her. Mommy and Daddy were very proud of their little darling, and so they should. Catherine's blog said it well, Dennis would have been proud of his precious little grand-daughter, his mini-muffin, if you will. He also would have enjoyed this party; he was missed.
Mom wishes to thank all for coming and for their cards, flowers and gifts (despite her request for no gifts). And she thanks those that couldn't attend for their kind wishes and cards.
She had a grand time, then, she is a grand Lady.
I too would like to thank all for helping make this a memorable event for her.
Ciao & Peace.

Hooray for Mom & Happy Thanksgiving.

Mom just got a great birthday present and she is giving thanks. Vancouver Island Health Authority has just approved her for a subsidized suite, eff Nov 1st, and her 90th birthday is in November, how good can it get, well even better. She doesn't have to move, they will swap the subsized suite for the one she is in, so she stays put, she was thrilled as were we, the otherwise designated movers. She immediately started to spend by asking for a new kitchen table and chairs, which we went out and got her. Set it up yesterday. Its a big saving for her, since she had more outgo than income, now she is on the right side of that one.
So what was her temporary address is now her permanent one. So no-one has to change their address book.
Well that is about it, nothing else I have tops that.
Mom as well as ourselves wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Day.
& Peace.

Mini-Cruise
Carolyn and I just completed a Mini-Cruise. It was a 5-Day 4-night cruise from Seattle to Seattle. Its first port of call was Nanaimo and the second one was Victoria. The 3rd day was at sea and then back to Seattle. Mike and Gail told us about this one some time ago, a contingent of 18 couple went on it. Most of them are part of the Cruise Greeters group and we got a good deal. The four of us drove to Seattle, stayed overnight there, got on the cruise ship and really enjoyed the 4 days.
Prior to boarding we spent a few hours wandering downtown Seattle, mostly in the Pike Street market, that was a first for us. We hadn't been to down town Nanaimo for several years and they have done a lot of work on the water front. And we played tourist in our own town when in Victoria. We wandered the streets that we haven't been down for a long time. We don't get down town too often. The time on the ship was relaxing. Carolyn, in particular, enjoys being pampered. Meals were great, no preparation or cleaning up, etc. A very nice time overall.
Some of the people were quite surprised to find that we were from Victoria. We got a lot of "what are you doing on this cruise?" Good for a laugh.
I'll post some picture on my web album.
Lewis had his operation finally and is doing well. They seem to have gotten most of the tumour and he is recovering nicely. He has motion and feeling in his arm. He may be back home to Saskatoon today. Carolyn was very relieved.
Now we are back in the Wet Coast fall weather. Rain, wind, rain. Quite windy yesterday, 10,000 folks without power on Southern Vancouver Island.
May have a clear spot for golf tomorrow morning.
