Happy Birthday Rachel, Comox, & Remy

We enjoyed a relaxing few days in Comox. We had a nice spot at the Military Campground, Tee Pee Park. We had spent many a summer there with the kids and tent trailer when we were there '78 to '82. So we walked on the most wonderful beach and reminisced. When the tide is out the sand goes out forever it seems. Had a great visit with Noni the first two nights. Carolyn had brought a lasagna she had made at home, enough, I swear to feed the campground. Then Saturday we spent at Noni and John's and had a great steak BBQ which included her neighbours and then Sunday she treated us to a meal at the Monte Cristo Restaurant. It was a marvellous meal and worth the trip for anyone wanting a great meal with great ambiance. We were out on the deck overlooking the Puntledge river that extends out to the gorge. Service was as great as the meal. It used to be the "Ma Maison" french restaurant way back when.

The picture on the left is our mailbox, and why would I post a picture of it. Because it used to be this ugly white thing that was showing signs of rust and wear. Our friend Suzanne said she would paint it for us and this is the result. We just love it, thanks to Suzanne.

Today is the champagne birthday of our eldest granddaughter Rachel. 23 on the 23 rd. We are headed their with Great Grandma Viv for the family party later today. Happy Birthday Rachel.

The picture on the left is a collage of some of those available on Catherine's blog and Margot and Joel's facebook pages. Do click on the picture itself to see it much larger. (eg. this works for all blogged pictures)
She sure is a "cutie patootie".

Dennis would have been proud as punch, and tickled pink with her.
Ta ta all & Peace.

Computers, BBQs, Movies

No News yet on the baby. They do take their time sometimes. We are all anxious, but not likely as anxious as M. and J. are. Keep us posted.

Saturday I had a marathon computer repair day. It was to be the day Lyn was to take me out for a Birthday/Father's day dinner, just her and I. However, computer problems prompted me to go over early to try to recover some important files prior to fixing the computer. In the process of that we were cleaning out the computers, blowing the dust out of them. Somewhere in the process Lyn pulled the Heat Sink out of their NEW computer to blow the dust from the vanes and unfortunately the CPU came out with it and ruined the CPU and mother board. She felt so bad, unfortunately I was busy with the other computer to prevent what she had done. She felt so bad. So I suggested we order in and continue working on the old computer. Long story short, we got all the files and resurrected the old computer. Today she ordered a new box, and she learned a valuable lesson in computer maintenance. Also she still owes me a dinner.

Sunday we took some steaks over to David and Tena's and had ourselves a nice BBQ with them. I got 24 steaks (8 oz strip loins) from Noni for my Birthday/Father's day. How can you tell she works for North Douglas Distributors, providers to the finest restaurants and resorts on the Island. So we have been working our way through them. We are headed to Noni's up Island tomorrow and will be in Comox 5 days. So we will take 4 steaks with us for yet another BBQ. Hmmmm I do like steak. Like the ad says I am a "meatarian". ("It's a personal decision. You gotta commit to it.") bwahahahaha She knows what her daddy likes.

Rob and I have been to a couple of movies. We just went to "Brideshead revisited" Good English flick, bordering on the edge of a chick flick, was surprised when Macho Rob suggested it. AND he liked it too. Hmmmmm Guess I'll have to find a Terminator or some such movie to get him back on track. We all 4 went to see X-files, and we all enjoyed it. Its no Oscar candidate, but a typical movie of the genre.

I noticed an overall decline in Blogging. There is a decidedly fewer bloggers. Methinks Facebook and its ilk are taking over. Oh well I'll plug along for awhile yet, though obviously not with the frequency I was once noted for. The weather is just too darn nice lately, and it looks like a couple of more 30 C days ahead. Joy. Nice for morning golf.

Ta Ta & Peace.

Partying & Painting & Happy Birthday M.

Last weekend was our Cruise groups annual BBQ at Mikes. The usuals were there, and as usual the afternoon and evening were a lot of fun. There is always games and we each start with a set of monopoly money and the couple with the most at the end of the evening are the grand winners, which was Carolyn and myself. Doug and Gail prepared and donated the gift basket which was truly great. Two bottles of wine, wine opener and wine stopper, two nice wine glasses, chocolate finger cookies, and a deck of cards. The games consisted of putting for dollars, horse races, darts at balloons. On completion of the games we had a lovely pulled pork supper courtesy of Len and Melanie, with the rest of the meal and dessert by pot luck with everyone contributing. With then had the annual men vs women trivia contest and this year it was a tie. Good times, good friends, good food, what more can you ask for.

This past week, Carolyn and I painted the kitchen and Breakfast/Computer room. Arizona yellow, it is bright and cheery. And today she was out ordering the new counter tops, sink, taps and garburator, and new knobs for the cupboards. I guess the bathrooms will be next.

It has been pretty busy around the complex. They are finally around to roofing our quad. There are only 4 units left after us. They have been at it for 3 months now, and I imagine they will finish in another 3 weeks or so. Also we have been getting a fence replaced near us. So the days that the roofers are roofing and the fencers are fencing and the gardeners are gardening, and then the workers doing the eaves troughs show up, it is some hectic.

Today is niece M's birthday and she is due soon, we are all anxious for her and anxious to see this new little girl. Have a Happy Birthday dear.

Rob and I have been to a couple of movies. The best so far has been "the Dark Knight" really well done. "two thumbs up". Carolyn and I went to see Wall-E and it was cute, really enjoyable movie. Monday the 4 of us are going to see X-Files movie. Its getting average ratings, but we were all x-filers, so we got to see what Mulder and Scully are up to.

Mom had us over to her dining room last Sunday for Turkey dinner, they sure do great food at the Cridge. It was scrumptious, served with yellow and orange carrots, parsnips, mixed veg, mashed potatoes and a stuffing to die for. She is still doing well, still slowly improving all the time. Her shoulder is still a problem and we will be seeing the doctor about that this week.

Till next time TTFN
Ciao & Peace.
