Odds and Ends
All is well and not much to pass on. I will be busy this week with the parking control at the BMX races at the Juan de Fuca Rec Centre that I mentioned earlier. It will keep me out of trouble for 6 days. Not to mention the last few days trying to figure out their organization or should I say the lack of organization and contacting our guys with the repeated changes. I see far too few parking spots for too many visitors. Oh well.
We celebrated a friends birthday on the weekend, Ken turned 65 and we got to see a lot of friends some of which we hadn't seen for awhile, it was a great party.
Tena was just over with Megan and Ben. Just visiting and picking Carolyn's brains over some decoratiing ideas she has for their "new to them" home. They'll be moving in mid August.
Well to bed to bed sleepy head.
ta ta and peace.

Movie Rats, Toads and BMX too.
Lewis stayed on a few days after Phyllis headed home. We enjoyed his visit, and he managed to get in a couple of golf games in, including a round out at Olympic View. Since then we been busy with mundane matters of every day life. Carolyn and I did take in a movie, "Ratatouille". It is excellent and recommended for all age groups.
We been looking for a new TOAD too. To those not in the know a TOAD is a vehicle you tow behind a motor home, sometimes called TOWEDs. Our Sunfire is 10 years old and in need of a new tow plate and Air Conditioner. So we could be looking at $3,000 in repairs for a car that is worth that much. However, other than that it is still in great shape and will be a great second car. We have decided on a Nissan Versa. Small enough to be a good TOAD and big enough to accommodate me. Very roomy for a compact, we quite like it. Now all that remains is to make "THE DEAL". I have a car broker working on it.
Mom is doing fine. We are all getting along well, though the last three days we been hot hot hot with 30+ temperatures, 38 yesterday WHEW, some cooler today thank you very much.
I was at a BMX Bike meeting tonight. Victoria is host to a huge BMX bike races that will take place the week of 25-29 July, and our Lions club volunteered to help with parking control. I am coordinating the Lion contingent. We have four night shifts. Should be a busy few days as they expect 2500 contestants from 40 countries, and thousands of spectators. It should get national coverage as they expect a lot of media people. Since it getting close the support organizers are getting into panic mode.
Any volunteers???? We need more.

HAPPY CANADA DAY

We went to Sooke for their celebrations and mainly for the Canada Youth Humanitarian Award of which Chelsea was one of the recipients. It was a wonderful way to spend the day and of course Noni, John, Jacob, Lewis, Phyllis, Carolyn and I were all there and proud of her. She was quite pleased which is obvious; witness the pictures below.

So it has been a busy, but happy time. Mom is still doing well, the weather has been warmer so she hasn't had to bundle up to sit outside. She loves watching the birds, particularly the hummingbirds.
And Congratulations to Cheyenne, she was Top Student for Grade 11. Well done dear.

Ta ta and Peace.
