headed home
We will be departing Winnipeg tomorrow. The last of the packing and moving out is happening today.
Carolyn and Lewis are making their last visit to Merle, who is still hanging in. Still mentally alert, though tired and weakening daily. She sure has resiliency. Lewis leaves today and Lyn is coming in today to see her great Auntie. She will stay until Monday and return home.
We had a lovely meal at Pat and Joe, with Shirley and Didi in attendance. They gave Mom (their aunt) a lovely silver and amber brooch and earrings. It was a lovely meal and they have a beautiful house in Selkirk.
ta ta all, and peace.

Packing almost done, Moving on.
Packing is almost done. Saturday the last of the furniture will depart and depending on a number of things we will leave Sunday.
Lewis is in town to see his Aunt Merle and is staying with us in the motor home. We saw Merle this morning and she is fading. Hanging in, and as far as her mind is concerned doing well, but the body is failing, she hasn't eaten in two days, can't keep anything down. Still debating the merits of feeding by tube. She has said she is ready to go, and to be allowed to go. So it is just a matter of time now. Betty is resigned to the probable fact that Merle is not going home.
The hard part is that she is alert and chatty, which is of course what makes it even harder.
She is a sweetheart, still with more concern for others than for herself.
Hug someone you love.
ta ta and Peace.

Saskatoon, Winnipeg
We had a great visit with Phyllis and Lewis and we are looking for many more. They are coming to Victoria this summer, so the whole family will get to meet Phyllis. They are a couple of love-birds. We got to see Lewis' cabin. He has been waiting so long to show us the cabin, and was pleased we did. We took two of the Quads and did a tour around the local area and the Little Swan River. That was fun, unfortunately we couldn't stay the night as we had to make some time Sunday evening so we wouldn't have a really long day Monday. We had something approaching 50 miles of gravel road between going in and coming out the other direction. Yes Lewis about 30 miles South of gravel we are finding dust in area's of the motorhome that we didn't know we had. LOL. Spent the morning hosing out the bays.
We got the rental car near lunch and expected the compact that I had rented, but got a free upgrade to a Ford SUV, which turns out to be ideal for carting Mom's stuff to the Motorhome. We started in the packing and sorting today. Much to go through.
Speaking of which we just got back from taking Mom to supper for Mother's Day. She really liked the broach we got her.
Take care all and Peace.

Happy Mother's day
We made it to Saskatoon. Got here Friday afternoon and we finally met Phyllis. She's very nice and Lewis is very lucky. They make a good couple. She has a nice home and Lewis has been busy remodelling, updating etc. We had a gorgeous steak dinner last night and tonight they invited her Mom and Aunt to dinner. They just moved her Aunt (mid 90's) from Florida (where she has lived most of her life, to Saskatoon. What a change. But she had no one left in Florida. Shades of what we are doing for Grandma Ousey. So we got some ideas
We will be on our way tomorrow. We are going to swing by Lewis' Cabin and then continue on and should be in Winnipeg Monday night We came this close to being there for Mother's day. However, Val is having Mom over for a BBQ for Mother's day. She has been so good to Mom, helping her pack and will be there to help while we move her out.
Happy Mothers day to all you Mother's out there.
Ta ta and Peace.

On the road again.....
We caught a 9 am Ferry and thus made good time to Kamloops. We met John and Susan van Shaik on the ferry; they were headed to Golden to a Shriner's Convention. We hadn't seen them for awhile, so we had a chance to catch up. We also saw Ellie, Alan's girl and one of our inherited grandchildren, on the Ferry. That was a surprise to us, and apparently to Lyn as well when we called her from the ferry. Ellie was with her photography class on a visit to the Vancouver art gallery.
In Kamloops we were going to try the Casino like John and Susan but it is right downtown and there really wasn't any RV parking. So we headed to Walmart. Just as we got there the skies opened up and the wind turned to a gale. It actually blew open one of my "locked" bay doors. Still can't quite figure that one out.
Today was nice and sunny, and we are currently at the Whispering Spruce RV park in Golden BC. Quite nice, picturesque, with snow capped mountains, and a herd of Big-Horn Sheep near the entrance to the park.
Tomorrow we should be in Hannah Alta, which puts us within striking range of Saskatoon.
So goes the trip.
TTFN and peace.

Eureka a Blog
Ok ok! its been a while.
We been busy, however, all is ready for Mom. And the car is ready as is the Motor home, with the exception of the last minute stuff. We will be on the road Tuesday morning, though we may sneak out Monday afternoon and get to Hope which will give us a bit of a head start. Either way we should be in Saskatoon by Friday.
The Ousey friendly computer repair service has been abnormally busy as well. I setup or repaired several wifi networks, setup a local network, fixed a couple of computers as well as spending much time on my own balky laptop. I finally after many hours narrowed the problem down to a memory module. It now works fine without the extra memory. So now that is set and ready to go too.
Kathy and Denny had us and Merkley's over for a fine dinner. Ken has written a book and he brought the copies we had requested. We are saving it to read on this trip, it looks like a good read. I'll have a critique when we return.
Sue and John also had us over for dinner, most enjoyable, and we are returning the favour tomorrow night. It is Alan's birthday today, Cinqo de Mayo, as he calls it and we had him and Lyn over last night to celebrate. Happy Birthday Alan. More celebration are happening tonight and probably all weekend. We had Tony and Ann over for dinner and a few days later, Tony and Ann had Rob and Sue as well as ourselves for lunch the day that Rob and Sue returned home. Since then we had Rob and Sue over for dinner, and Carolyn made Rob's favourite desert, I call it "sex in a pan", he calls it that "green s**t". lol. It is quite delicious, just had some more tonight. mmmmmmmm. Hey no damn wonder I'm not losing weight with all this eating.
Well that's about it in a nutshell, busy, eat, busy, eat.
My contact for the next 3 weeks will depend on my connection, but should be somewhat regular.
Carolyn says Hi.
Ciao, and Peace.
