Charlene, Florence, chinese food.
Well what's new since me last blog. Charlene blogged, all is well there. Chelsea sent us a nice email with pictures of her trying on Grad dresses, she looked good in a blue one, which is the one she is getting. She assured Grandma that she wouldn't be getting a black or white one. lol. Carolyn is a firm believer in COLOR.
We, the Kirkwoods, and Cooper (Ken and Helen's Gordon Setter) went out for a drive yesterday. We went to Florence in search of a Lion mate of mine, Jerry and Margaret Clements, and we found them, despite dead end steets trying to defeat us. They are good and seem nice a comfy in their cosy pad. Doing well. They just got back from visiting Arnie (another Lion mate) and his 3000 sq.ft. mansion in Mexico. They were duly impressed though we all agreed that was way to big, even though they have a cleaner and gardener.
We swung by Apache Junction, Mesa, looked up a couple of RV resorts, had a Mac Attack and stopped for some fries and a drink to keep us going. We finished the day with Chinese food at the Hong Kong Kitchen, in Casa Grande. It was quite good though not up to what we remembered being a couple of years ago.
I talked to my Mom yesterday, and she is quite chipper, looking forward to the move and wishing she were 10 years younger so she could enjoy Victoria more than she will be able to. I keep forgetting that she is 88, especially on the phone, she is so with it, sense of humor and all, joking about the "old" people she has to deal with.

Casa Grande, Kirkwoods, Chelsea
First Chelsea blogged another wonderful newsy blog with pictures too, way to go girl (see Noni Chelsea blog on right).
.JPG)
Well we are in Casa Grande and set up in the Foothills West park. Ken and Helen arrived late the next day and we have spent some time catching up with our lives. We have gone back and forth for dinners, it is really great to see them again. Saturday we went to the Fair in Old Downtown Casa Grande. It was very large with many booths with all the sorts of things you find at fair. There were a large number of vintage cars, Carolyn is with one in the picture. Same year 56 Chev, that we owned way back when, only ours was two tone blue and white.
Fortunately it was one of our better days weather wise. Most of the days so far have been wet and cool with near freezing temps at night and we haven't been over 60 F during the day for some time. Tonight it is actually going a couple of degrees into the freezing zone. Oh well the sun is out this afternoon, so Carolyn and I managed a long walk.
The other picture is of some of the art at the Fair. What you see is actually done in a 3D format, very nice.
Tomorrow is a trip to Phoenix, IKEA for the girls and Fry's electronics for the boys. We are looking for at a variety of stuff. A new speaker for Ken, his new XMS radio, which is very nice, blew out one in his motorhome. We are also looking at external USB WiFi adapters. I am connecting OK, but I have an external adapter that we put in a large peanut can and that got Ken from no connection to a solid connection on his computer. Very rustic Cantenna as they are called.
David still doesn't have word on his new car and is getting impatient. Apparently our house in one piece so Rachel is doing a good job of looking after that.
Still looking for a blog from Charlene, Hello Char, everything fine up there in the north country.
Catherine has been getting serious with the house and has had several agents in to give her ideas, and estimates. Lots of work moving, but she is looking forward to it.
Ciao, ta ta and Peace.

Cold, Quilts

We are currently getting some nice sunny days, but cold. The forecast is for record lows for Tucson, Benson and surrounding areas. Could get as low as 14 F (-10C) and for here that is cold. Not as cold as Winnipeg, which had -36 C the other night. Oh well. It will make for a cool morning while we pack up and head for Casa Grande. It is warmer there mainly because they are at a much lower altitude than we are in Benson.
Talked to Jack today, and they got some of that ice storm, they had some ice in the trees, but not much damage. I guess most of the damage were car accidents and loss of power. Crazy weather all over.
Well must go snuggle in for the night.
Ciao.

Benson, Arizona, Health and Lewis
We are here in Benson for a week. Its a warmer here during the day but the nights are just as cool as Las Cruces. We are staying in a relatively new Resort called Cochise Terrace and it is quite nice. They have several areas for short term, long term and permanent residents. The lots are large and they have all the amentities, so we should enjoy the week. We stayed in Benson for a week last year but right in town. This one is a couple of miles out of town. The super Walmart they were planning last year got built and we have noticed many other changes as well. The traffic is getting very heavy around this little place. It is about 40 miles out of Tucson.
So far we have been getting caught up with cleaning the rig, laundry, we both got haircuts today. The neighbours are quite nice, they are from Colorado. They saw the forecast snow that was coming and within an hour they packed and left and headed straight south, missing all that snow that Colorado got.
We are both finally feeling back to normal healthwise. That crud took a bite out of us all right.

By the way Lewis blogged, a nice lengthy one too. He didn't put in a picture of Phyllis and himself, but emailed one to us. I include it here. Nice looking couple. Carolyn was talking to Betty and Merle; they met her over Christmas when Lewis and Phyllis visited. They said she is very nice and they haven't seen Lewis looking happier. We are looking forward to meeting her.

This is not funny. SNOW
.jpg)
Hey we come down here to get away from this stuff. Hmmmmmm This is what we woke up to this morning in Las Cruces. Still snowing and it is near noon, but it is melting now faster than it is falling. Carolyn feels like getting the Christmas decorations out again. It is plus 2C right now and we are supposed to get -5C tonight. Crazy weather all over.

We visited the old town of Mesilla, quaint shops, old houses, and, of course the shops, some tourist traps, but many with local arts and crafts. There, we went to La Posta restaurant for a mexican meal which was delicious. Decor, atmoshphere and service great. Highly recommended if you're ever in Lac Cruces.
TTFN, gotta go shovel off the car.

On the road to Las Cruces
Well we made our departure from Harlingen and made our way West. We had good driving weather, Sunny and cool, with a tail wind for the first couple of days. We stayed at a Walmart on the first night at Eagle's Pass, then went on to the "Lost Alaskan" RV resort in Alpine, Texas. The forecast wasn't great and the next morning it was cold, windy and raining, though it wasn't freezing rain as forecast, however, we hunkered down there for another day rather than drive in that stuff. Yesterday we had head winds but otherwise a sunny days drive to Las Cruces. We are staying here 4 days. Very nice park, with FREE wifi which is way better than TengoInternet that we had to pay for previously. Carolyn is finally over the bug, it came, it went, it came back and now its gone.
Now to do some exploring in the region.
Yea! Lyn blogged. Good one too, with pictures and everything. Yahoo. Well done dear, we enjoyed immensely. Now looking for a blog from Catherine.
