Happy New Year

Hey, I forgot to mention that back on 17th of Dec, Chelsea blogged on Noni's & Chelsea's blog. Good one too, check it out. Here is a picture of some of Carolyn's Christmas decorating. I must say the rig looked good.
And a Very Happy Birthday Cheyenne on your 16th birthday.
And here is Carolyn sporting the sparkly wrap that Sue knitted her for Christmas. Spiffy hey.

Well I finally got rid of the Galloping Crud I had, whatever it was. It took its time and I had it long enough to make Christmas Dinner taste like cardboard to me. Apparently it was all very good and by the day after Christmas I was ready for it, but, alas, too late, and no left overs. Unfortunately, Carolyn picked it up and is still suffering, and, like I, she has had good days and bad days. Hopefully she will be all better by the time we leave here on New Years day.

In any event, we will be taking our time, as we head west, we will be stopping for a few days at Las Cruces NM, then a week at Benson, AZ. We will be meeting Tony and Ann in Tucson, (quilt show and dinner) before we head for Casa Grande.

We will blog and email when we can.
Happy New Year
TTFN, Ciao.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It's been quiet around here for the past few days except for the weather. I have come down with the stomach flu or something similar. No fever, but upset tummy with all the commensurate ailments that come with an upset tummy, without going into details. A few aches as well. Hopefully I will be OK for Christmas day and dinner tomorrow. Carolyn is fine and I hope she doesn't get this. In any event the weather which had been fine turned nasty, with torrential rains, Tornado warnings and wind. No Tornadoes but it made for a couple of interesting days. I pretty much stayed cooped up in bed, put in the ear plugs and ignored most of it.

Prior to this Rob and I got to a movie or two. We saw Apocalypto, ignoring the blood and gore (the Mayans loved their ritual sacrifices) it was a pretty good movie. Rob cancelled out on Eragon, seems he had an upset tummy, Hmmmmm is that where I got it from??? Anyhow Larry and I went to see that one. If you like dragons you can't miss it. Overall an average movie, predictable plot but good visuals.

Catherine is on her way back to Vancouver today to spend Christmas with her daughter Margot and Joel. Carolyn was talking to her and she really enjoyed staying at our house and had a good time with our kids. We were happy to hear that. She will return to Winnipeg on the 30th.

I talked to me Mum today and she is being kept busy, but she doesn't want to spend another Christmas in Winnipeg. So she will be moving to Victoria next summer or thereabouts. Val had had her out to Portage for the viewing of Christmas lights and dinner and she is at Val's again today for Christmas Eve Dinner. She and her husband are real dears to look after Mom the way they are. Many thanks to them. Mom will be at Jeanette's for Christmas dinner tomorrow. So she has been and is busy.

We will be at a Christmas dinner at the Resort hall tomorrow. There will be 10 of us sitting together, so we are looking forward to it. They apparently put on a great spread.

So a Very Merry Christmas to everyone out in blogland and a Happy New Year too.

Ta Ta and Peace.

Warm weather

Well we wanted warm weather, and we got it. Its been in the 80's the past few days, and will continue for the next few. The heat is not too bad, but it is humid as well and that makes the heat sticky. Not like the heat in Arizona, where it is drier.

Finally got to talk to Mother yesterday. I tried all day, but finally got her in the evening. Val and her husband had her out all day. They went to Portage La Praire to see lights and sights and have dinner. Val is so sweet to look after Mom and keep her busy all day. As a result she seemed in pretty good spirits considering. Val is also having Mom out for Christmas dinner, just before Christmas and Jeanetter is having her for Christmas dinner the next day. And she just had Christmas dinner at the Manor. Good thing she likes turkey. I am so happy that she is being looked after, with Catherine away for Christmas. Speaking of which she should be arriving at the house today. Hope she uses my computer and keeps in touch.

We have been continuing minor repairs on the MotorHome. Rob loves projects. Also making good use of the pool and hot tub too. Speaking of which it getting near that time today. It is 82 right now, must find my bathing suit.

Remembrance

It has been a sad few days around here as today approached, as it probably has been for Mom, Catherine and Margot, not to mention everyone else. We loved Dennis dearly and we miss his humour and generosity. Carolyn and I often reflect on many things but in particular the Alaskan cruise that we were fortunate to share with him and Catherine, June 2005. The picture attached is of that cruise in one of the ports. Him getting a moose hug. We laughed a lot that trip. At one point I had stated that we should do this cruising thing more often, but we should try the caribbean next time, where it was warmer, so we can lay on the beaches. He said he didn't like beaches so didn't think we should do that, in his deadpan manner. Sucking me in as he always managed to do, I asked why? "because there was always someone trying to drag him back into the water" then bursts out in his his hearty BWhaaahaaahaaa laugh of his. Man I miss him. Love you dear brother.

Charlene's Yahoo blog

Charlene has a Yahoo360 blog, as I mentioned before and there are 22 entries, including mucho photos. I have added the link to the right. Well done Charlene, I (we) love it.

All is well here. The weather has warmed up to mid 70's so you can stop worrying about us, Hee hee. We have been watching the Victoria stormy weather (Rob has satellite)and feel for you guys. Just doesn't seem to want to end.

We saw "The Fountain" though it has some redeeming qualities, it is weird. A bit too artsy for our tastes; a kind of 2001 "Time" Odyssey thing. However, some apparently enjoy it as it is getting good ratings.

Rob and I went up to Brownsville Air museum on Sunday to find that it was closed on Sunday, but we found a giant Flea Market, that I am sure the girls will want to go to. So later this week we will go back and while the girls are walking the flea market Rob and I will take in the Museum.

Been doing repairs to the Rig. We fixed one of my bay doors and many other minor repairs. Carolyn has the rig decorated up for Christmas. I'll post pics soon.

Catherine will be headed to Vancouver today, have a good trip.

Ta Ta For now.

Birthdays, cold weather

It has got us thinking: Why are we here? We came down for warm weather and with the exception of one Day, namely Wednesday last week, it has been cool to down-right cold. Temp went to a low of 40F. It has been on and off windy and rainy as well. Not the weather that is typical for the area this time of year. We went to an outdoor flea market today, and cut it short due to the damp cool weather. Geez. Supposed to warmer by Monday, hmmmmmmm. We'll see.

We celebrated Sue's birthday last thursday with a meal at a the "New China Buffet", after she and Carolyn went to a movie "Happy Feet" which they thouroghly enjoyed. The weather has caused us to be more movie prone. Rob and I say Deja Vu, it wasn't too bad, and we saw Blood Diamond yesterday. It was quite good, if you ignore blood and gore. Dicaprio did an excellent job and overall an excellent movie, though the message was a little late considering the trouble with these diamonds in Sierra Leone was 7 years ago.

It was Lyn's birthday yesterday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYN. Hope you had a grand day. How about a blog telling us about it. I think a helicopter ride was involved?

Apparently Charlene now has a Yahoo360 blog, however, I don't know the address of it as yet. If anyone knows it let me know.

Ta Ta for now.

We have arrived.

We made it from Padre Palms to Sunshine Resort in Harlingen Texas. That cold front that came through Corpus Christi had also zipped through here, so it has been cool the past 3 days that we have been here. In the mid 40's at night and it only got up to 53 yesterday, and today it is currently 58. It is supposed to gradually get warmer as the week progresses. Maybe 70 plus on Wednesday. It took us a couple of days to get settled, since we will be here a month. The Wifi is reasonable, though I had my doubts as we have used tengonet before and it wasn't good then. But here it is acceptable. So I figured I had better get around to a blog. Rob and I have done a couple of "road trips" ie: Wally World, Office Depot, Home depot. We all went out to Padre Island to look at the Xmas decorated boats parade, that never materialized due to the temperatures and wind. We had dinner out and came home. Tonight is movie night we are going to see Deja Vu with Denzel Washington.

My computer screen gave out so I am currently operating on an external monitor. (Ergo some of the road trips). It may be repairable but finding someone is another matter. I'll give it a shot. It might be something simple, (he says without much confidence).

I see Dennis has been mentioned more frequently in various emails and blogs. Hard to believe it is coming up to a year since his passing. The events are still so vivid in my mind, him so vivid in my mind. Not a day goes by without thinking of him, especially his blog. We were both so much into the blog, that I still look for it, and miss it, and him. Catherine is doing an admirable job in maintaining it, and that is great, it keeps Dennis in all our minds, especially over the next two weeks. Reading his old blogs sure is a great way to remember his wit and humour, try it. They are all on what is now Catherine's "Prairie Dog" blog.

Ta ta and Peace.
