I got a phone call from Mike today. All is well up there pretty much. The coffee-shop is doing better which the are pleased with. They all had a touch of flu, Shawnee had it a little more than the others. So we had a good chat.

I had a Doctor's appointment today to see how I did with Crestor to control my cholesterol. It did much better than the pravastatin I have been using for years and it didn't bother me at all, not like Lipitor, with which I couldn't sleep well. So it looks like a go for Crestor. Yesterday it was the Dentist. An hour and a half in the chair getting ready for a new cap. I'll get that in two weeks. At least the pain is gone, it was bothering me for a while.

Tomorrow we are off with Kathie and Andy to the Tradex RV show in Abbotsford. It has been an annual event for the past few years. A very enjoyable weekend. Looks like a new Casino is part of the schedule this year. Wooo Wooo. We will be staying at the Best Western in Langley, which is cheaper than taking the motorhome, what with ferry costs and gas. We are all going in Kathie's PT Cruiser.

Good to see Catherine is doing well after her surgery.

Til next week, nitey nite.

Here is a better one of Mike and Charlene's family. Taken by Lewis. Sierra still hiding.
Hey, Margot blogged, Hey so did Jack, WOW.

Speaking of which I just noticed I haven't blogged since last Wednesday, at least that is what my blog says. I was sure I blogged Friday, but it isn't there so either my mind is going or it didn't post, probably the former. So busy following Dennis' blog and the progress of Catherine, and doing Emails that maybe I forgot.

Anyhow, good to hear that Catherine is fine, and was fine enough only two days after the operation to go to Gimli on Sunday. It was really nice that Margot got home to support her mother. She is back home in Vancouver and has blogged as mentioned above.

Jack blogged and after all this time it appears that the closing of his house purchase will finally happen on Tuesday. Sure takes a long time down there. He seems to be going through a lot of money, which probably means he won't be visiting Winnipeg, at least not in October, while Carolyn and I are there. Oh well, hope he can make it in Nov.

Weather has been holding beautifully. Went for a walk, Sunday, around the West Bay walkway, which runs along the Victoria harbour from Esquimalt into Victoria. Golfing this morning was great too, great weather and I golfed not too badly either. Lyn and Alan came over for dinner on Sunday so we caught up with all the news there. All seems well and normal. Adam is back in Hockey and actually driving himself to some of the practice, albeit with a licensed driver (Lyn) with him. Rachel is busy busy busy, though, apparently, more socially than Lyn would like. She is still working while taking courses from Camosun. Colin is again in the Vic High rhythm and Blues band on the trombone, however, Elie has decided against it this year. She would like to get her own band going.

Carolyn has been giving the house an extra cleaning as we have some prospective "house sitters" coming over tomorrow. She has also been busy cleaning up the gardens in preparation of turning them over to the groundskeepers. That way we don't have to worry about them while traveling. (We?) Okay, she won't have to worry.

There goes the dinner bell.

Take care you'all.

Happy Birthday Kathie.

Catherine may be operated on tomorrow. A cleanout of the carotid artery. She is in the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg. Dennis will let us know the results as soon as he knows. The prognosis is good and all should go well. Margot arrived in Winnipeg tonight so she will see her Mom tomorrow morning. That will pick up Catherine's spirits.

Speaking of Margot, after our visit with her last Thursday we headed for the ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke point in Nanaimo. Boy is that ferry small. We just got in, and we were to find out later that we actually damaged our awning over the Bedroom slide. We didn't notice it at the time but when we used the slide the awning bracket was broken and the end of the awning cut. I'll be taking it in soon to see how much that is going to be.

The rally itself was great. We had 30+ rigs and the whole thing went extremely well. We saw many friends we haven't seen for awhile. The hosts did a very good job. Saturday noon we all went over to Protection Island and enjoyed a lunch at the Dinghy Dock cafe. The walls are covered with money from all over the world with greetings written on them, including a real Canadian $100.00 bill. Weird, signed by Jake, Jake must have been drunk or rich or both.

We got home Monday and after a rather busy month we will appreciate the rest. Nitey Nite.

By the way Lyn blogged, yep, really, don't believe me take a look "Lyns blog".

We finally got to meet up with Margot in Vancouver on Thursday last. We saw there suite and Joel's aquariums. He is really doing a fine job and it is turning into a full time job, contracting to both create them, then maintain them. Unfortunately he wasn't available for lunch. The three of us had a nice lunch at the Boatside. Halibut and chips, their specialty. We got caught up with all the news on both sides of the straits.

Margot with Auntie Carolyn and Uncle Gary.

Michael, Charlene and family, Sierra is being shy and hiding behind Mike.

We had a great visit with Mike and family and I have a few more pics to post later.

We had a nice relaxing time visiting Tsawwassen (I think I got it right this time – usually I type a bunch of t’s, s’s, w’s, etc and hope for the best). It is a nice town with big homes on tiny lots, at least in the areas we were. Downtown seems like several malls on all four corners. It had a DQ so I was happy enough. Today we pack up and park the motorhome in Splashdown Parking lot. Then we drive downtown to visit with Margot. Too bad the Splashdown water slides were closed that would have been fun, yeah, right! This afternoon we return and take the ferry over to Nanaimo, Walmart and thence the Rally. We will be meeting Kathie and Andy, as well as John and Sue at the Walmart tonight.

Other than its handy location, I wouldn’t recommend this Parkcanada campground. Don’t get confused by the name. It is a private campground, not well kept, showers are not particularly clean and the whole area needs some TLC. Staff not too friendly either. There web site reservation system is misleading as well.

We see that Rob and Sue are moving themselves temporarily out of the way of Ophelia. Good move. They are sure having fun out East and they will be heading South soon. See details at their blog link to the right.

We may not have online access until we get home. The Rally at Beban Park in Nanaimo is a dry camp and so we will have to be prepared with full water and empty tanks. And Carolyn is breathing over my shoulder so must go do that now. NOW!

I see Gimli made the National news tonight. Building dikes to cover 100 kms of shoreline to prevent flooding, as Lake Winnipeg is at high water levels. Good move, without it Dennis might end up with waterfront property.

Nite nite.
Here we are at Tswassen. There is a campground very close to the Tswassen ferry terminal, we decided on it since the one we were going to use in Delta is closed. And a good thing at that since the Delta Peat Bog is on fire and we would probably have been smoked out. Here we can catch the ferry easily when we are ready to go late Thursday, after visiting Margot.

This campground is not bad, though we have been in better. They get a lot of traffice that is either ferry bound or travelers that don’t want to pay the ferry rates for their RV but take tours of Victoria from here. They are all set up for that and it probably works out well for some.

After Prince George we stayed at Lac La Hache again and then in our favourite truck stop at Hope, prior to arriving here. Spent a few hours touring Hope since we have never been into the town before. Typical little mountain town. Very picturesque setting amongst towering hills on all sides. Nice little tourist bureau with much info. Today we are going into the Town of Tswassen as it is another town, we have been by frequently but have not visited.

Beautiful sunny day today, we actually have had great weather overall. A couple of days of rain, but the rest were sunny. Better than any of our previous trips up North. Well while I have this mysterious WiFi connection I’ll blog this. Don’t know how long it will last. Toodle do.

In the beginning there was the Flying Spaghetti Monster
So we are still in Prince George. After contacting Margot and arranging a visit for the 15th, we found we had a couple of extra days. This Sintich park is so reasonable and well equipped we couldn't think of any other place we would rather spend some extra time, so here we are. We will leave tomorrow, and take two days to get to Parkcanada RV park near Tswassen terminal. From there we will visit Margot after which we will head for Nanaimo for the rally.

We've been toodling around Prince George. It is quite a nice little city, growing like crazy. There is many, many trucks and places for repairing trucks. You name it and they have a facility here. We went to a movie yesterday. "40 year old virgin" not bad, but it won't be nominated for any Oscars either. First half had us wondering why we were there, but it finished quite well. If you have a choice take the other one.

My little fold up bike is working well. Have been wandering around the local area getting some exercise.

Just talked to Noni(on Skype). She is busy, but doing well. She has had to re-rent her suite, the last tenant wasn't working out well, but she will have a new tenant in Oct. She has sold the Camaro and is glad that is out of her hair. Chelsea is back at school, but still working at the "Body shop" on weekends. So all sounds fine there.

Next blog??? don't know when but I will when I can. nitey nite all.

Lewis got away on time. He said he really enjoyed to the trip, in particular seeing Mike and the kids. It had been 8 or so years.

We stayed at Sintich in Prince George for another day. Enjoyed a Chinese buffet at the Great Wall, which was a very good deal, went for a walk and then organized the remainder of the trip. We talked (Skype) to Margot and arranged a day meeting, probably lunch for the 15th and looking forward to that.

Nice looking trailer Dennis. Looks very comfy, and your enjoying it which is the main thing.

Yes Jack and I have something similar. Though the treatment is different. His reacted to medication, mine didn't (I needed Electro-Cardio conversion - I called it a reboot). He is taking medication daily to control it, so far I haven't been prescribed any meds. In both cases there is no underlying cause or heart disease, and it doesn't necessary indicate future heart problems at least any more than the general population.

Avoiding triggers helps, problem is identifying the triggers. I still have occasional intermittent, short term episodes and alcohol, caffeine and aspertame seem to be involved, so I have cut out alcohol and aspertame and minimize caffeine, and will soon be weaned off of that too.

Well that's that for now.

We made it to Prince George around supper time today. We are back in Sintich RV park since it is a great reasonable place to stop, with WiFi. We had a nice visit with Angela yesterday. Her kids are so cute. Halenya is cute as a button and her new boy Grayson is huge. 30 lbs at 10 months, a big bright boy. Jane, Angela's mother happen to call so we got to talk to her as well.

Lewis leaves tomorrow, and we will stay an additional night here before heading south. We have a few days to get to Vancouver, so we will look into a few stops on the way back. We will give ourselves ample time to visit Margot and Joel too.

Got some news from Jack. The house deal hasn't closed yet, but is supposed to mid September. He has had some medical problems too. It appears he has a similar, if not the same, irregular heartbeat thingy that I have. Like mine there doesn't seem to be an underlying cause. Must be genetic.

Yawwnnn, Time for bed. Nitey nite.

Monday, September 05, 2005

Here we are on our last day here. We will leave tonight, rather than tomorrow. School starts tomorrow, that and work and coffee shop, it will be less hectic here if we have already said our goodbyes. We have some stuff to do in Terrace. We are stopping by to see Angela Peskett (nee: Bolton). Jane Barber's (formerly Bolton) daughter. They have just moved into a new (to them) house and we haven't seen the new baby yet. We will restock the larder and head for Fort Telkwa tomorrow afternoon.

We had a nice long walk today. Took in the Canyon City suspension bridge, Fish Wheel, (salmon counter) and some of the lava bed walkways. Very interesting terrain, with hundreds of square miles of lava that poured out of the mountains 260 years ago. In geological terms that is like yesterday. Got some good pictures I'll post once home. I forgot my cable so I can't download them yet.

We had a birthday party for Rick, a friend of Mike and Char, yesterday. Excellent and yummy Ham, with Peach upside down cake for dessert. Lewis bought some crabs yesterday when they went to King Kolith. So we had that for lunch today. Well some of them did. I had a pastrami sandwich.

That's about it for now.

Friday, September 02, 2005

Lew and I are back at the house. We just had a nice lasgna lunch at Charlene's "My Coffee Shop". Mike was the chef who created it. Excellent with Ceasar salad and garlic toast. MMmmmmm. Nice coffee shop, and doing fairly well. Like everything there are good days and bad days.

Lew is enjoying the trip as is Carolyn and myself. Carlolyn's back is a bit sore, but otherwise she is weathering the trip well. When we got to the the last 20 kms of the road here, we disconnected the car and she drove the car in. The last portion was great last year with sealcote and all, but this year it is not so good as they are grading, leveling and otherwise preparing it for paving. So with all the rain, it is pretty well lumpy. Should be great next year when the whole area will be paved.

Lewis and I share your sentiments on gas prices Dennis.

Carolyn is preparing a stew for tonight and she is doing it at the Rig. So must go get her. Til tomorrow.

Thursday, September 01, 2005

We made it, towing the car and everything. We stayed at Fort Telkwa last night and called Mike. Turns out Charlene had a medical appointment and they would be in Terrace today. So we met them there. After a quick shopping we pressed on to Aiyansh. We will stay in the campground for a couple of nights and then move to a nearby driveway that is available. We just finished dinner and are currently visiting, catching up with the news etc. The kids have grown, weeds they are, but looking good. Sure is nice to see them all.

Dennis is seeing $1.099, We filled up at Burns Lake at $1.069 and the cheapest we saw was at Aldergrove a few days ago 94.9, which is probably higher now. Today in Terrace it was 1.119, which is what it was in Victoria when we left. However, it will probably be hire by the time we get going back.

Back to visiting, later mateys.
