Here is a screen capture of the Ousey boys with Mom together electronically on Christmas day.Technology, isn't it wonderful.
Here it is day after boxing day, this is the day you throw out all the boxes you got left over from boxing day, or something. I just got back from the Dentist where he replaced the temp. filling with a perm. filling, finally finishing off the root canal process. Tooth has behaved itself so he felt confident putting the permanent filling in the crown. Didn't take long tho, it is faster when no freezing is needed. Strange to get a tooth drilled with no freezing, you expect to feel something, but after the root canal, the tooth, she be really dead, no feeling whatsoever.
Boxing day we had a fine left over turkey dinner with David, Tena, Ben and Chris. Too bad we didn't see Megan, but this was Linda's turn at Christmas so Megan was up Island with her. Good dinner, more turkey and stuff(ing); we played with Ben and some of his games and toys. He was sure excited about Christmas and all the goodies.
This may be my last blog for a couple of days, but just a reminder to all that blogging is a great way to keep in touch. I will continue blogging over the next 4 months and let you all know about our travels. This may be a good time for all the return the favour and recommence blogging so we can keep up to date with your lives too. I am sure Dennis would agree.
Today is our last day before we depart to sunny south. Lewis flys back this afternoon to Saskatoon and the cold weather, we expect some of the kids will drop by to say goodbye, in amongst this we have to finalize our packing. Wish us luck.....we are leaving tomorrow...so there.

Carolyn and I are still fighting off this cold, it is a nasty one the doesn't seem to want to leave. Despite it, we are having a good visit with Lewis, her brother. Getting around to seeing all the kids, lights etc. Weather was nice a sunny for the most part, but has turned rainy for Christmas day.
Enjoyed Yahooing with the two bro's and Mom. Neat that we can get together, videocams and all, I know mother likes to see her three boys together, even if only electronically. She doesn't see them to often together otherwise. Someday maybe.
We had a great Christmas dinner at Noni's. She is a great cook, and I havn't seen a more beautiful turkey. Took a picture but have to wait to get it, since brain dead me forgot my own camera. We had, besides Carolyn, Lewis and myself, Lyn, Alan, Rachel, Adam, Noni, Chelsea, and two friends of Noni's, Albert and Scott.
In amongst all the Xmas activities we are trying to get the motorhome packed and ready to go in Yikes two day. Fortunately it is parked nearby and Joyce's and so it is easy to get to and take things out periodically. Carolyn says "dead or alive" we ar leaving Tuesday. Our tenants Burt and Marion arrive that day as well.
Happy boxing day all, blog on.

Carolyn's Bro, Lewis flew in on his annual pilgrimage to Victoria for Christmas ( well usually annual, he missed last year since we weren't here). Anyhoo he arrived just in time to be exposed to miserable cold that I came down with. That's what I get for helping a neighbour with his computer while he has a cold. It is a real nasty one and is hanging on, and now Carolyn has it and she is not happy what with all we need to do to both get ready for Christmas Eve Dinner with friends and get ready to leave on the 28th.
Some sad news there too. We are spending a week at Fort Lewis, near Ken & Helen Kirkwood who we will be visiting for a week over New Years. Helens brother in Spokane has contracted esophagal cancer and she is there helping him deal with it and relocation. No time is good for this kind of news but Christmas time is the worst. Hopefully all works well for her brother, for her and for the family. Our thoughts are with her.

Pack for the Cruise??? It ain't till June man. You're beginning to sound like Carolyn. We have been getting ready for our trip South so long now, its feels like I'm back already.
Had a nice Yahoo with Jack. All seems well there, told him about Mom's foot. He is going to phone her and cheer her up. Am glad to hear her footsy is better and she is on the go again.
Good hockey game last night. The Salmon Kings (Victoria) lost 2-1 to San Diego but they played a good game outshooting San Diego 34 to 28.
I have been fighting off a cold, but today it has set in solid. Got it from my neighbour Ken. I was helping him with his computer last week as he was hacking and coughing. Oh well, hopefully it will be cleared up by Christmas weekend and Carolyn doesn't get it.
Feliz Navidad

For you NHL hockey fans here is a site to brighten your day "Shut the puck up".
My a week since I blogged, Dennis will be getting after me. Busy week, what can I say. Been out every night, out most days, getting ready to go, etc. The dinner that we Lions put on at Colwood Lodge went well; about 36 residents seemed pleased as they do every year. Each got a bottle of wine and choclates which really got the Christmas cheer rolling. No they didn't drink it there, they take that with them, but we did serve some wine with the meal. Not surprisingly it was Turkey and the trimmings. Our own Lions dinner on the 15th, with spouses, was also well attended and enjoyed by all. Of course the attendance may have been in part due to our 50-50 draw. To keep the pot up we have the draw each meeting, but instead of winning the money, you get to draw a card, if you get the Queen of spades then you win the accumulating pot. We were down to two cards for this night. 50/50 chance to win $600.00. Sylvia got to draw and she drew the wrong card. The pot will go at the first meeting in January, and I won't be here to get a crack at it. What are the odds, through a whole deck of cards, down to the last.
Monday we went to a movie "Oceans 12", not as good as the first, the plot twists left many confused. But it was Military movie Monday, so it only cost $4.00. Probably only worth that much. Our golf group went to Tino's Greek restaurant for our annual dinner. We enjoyed dessert and coffe at Mike and Gails last night after doing our Santa routine of dropping off gifts etc at Lyn's and David's places. And speaking of Hockey we are going to a Salmon Kings game tonight with Sue and John. No wonder I haven't had time to blog. Geez. Carolyn has just left with Sue to the Art Gallery downtown to see an exibit of French Impressionists, at least that is what I think they are seeing.
Finally got the Motorhome back, and hopefully the antifreeze leak is fixed once and for all. We have it two doors down at Joyce's and now we can really get serious about packing it.
This from Carolyn: Gary bought me a mood ring the other day; when I'm in a good mood it turns green and when I'm in a bad mood it leaves a red mark on his forehead. Ouch, better get busy, we got lists of lists.

Rain, rain, rain. Oh well it is a "Wet Coast" winter wonderland. Tuesday found us at My Chosin cafe with Kathie and Andy (and Chris) for our weekly "fish and chip" night, 'cept nobody had "fish and chips". Good to see them and catch up on weekly events. Took the Motorhome into the Ford dealership. It only took 5 weeks to get the ABS sensor part that needed replacing, so today I find out they need a radiator hose and that will take 1 week to get in, Ho Ho Ho. That is what they said about the ABS sensor. I want the elusive anti freeze leak fixed before our departure on the 28th. And all this because Ford insists on using defective (inadequate) spring tension clamps on their rad hoses. You would think they would resolve the problem at construction. Apparently many owners have this problem with Ford truck chassis'. Oh well I am having fun sending out the emails to anyone who will listen.
Carolyn went to her sorority Christmas dinner, and fun with the girls. Probably won't see them until we return. We are having Rob & Sue over for dinner tonight, they will be on their way next week for several months. He will finally be out of the Navy next Friday and they pull out within hours after that. Sue and John Hutchins are also coming to dinner.
This Sunday the Lions club puts on a Christmas dinner for the Colwood lodge Seniors, we cook it, serve it and buy presents for all attending. We got it easy this year, we are in charge of buns, butter. I think I can handle it. Carolyn will be helping us set up and serve. Then next week we pack Christmas hampers with the Western Community Christmas hamper Group. The one time in the year that Carolyn's sorority and the South Van Isle Lions club work together on a service project.
Happy birthday to Lyn, whose was again 39 and holding yesterday, and a Happy Anniversary to Sue and John Hutchins, which we will raise a toast to tonight.
What do you call a boomerang that doesn't work???.......................A stick!

This site has made the National news. T-shirts for those Americans that want to vaction without talking politics, go as a Canadian Eh!
T-Shirt King: Go Canadian
Not much happenin'. Couldn't decide on a decent movie for movie Monday so that didn't happen. Am taking a break from golf for my shoulder to heal, so that didn't happen. It was too rainy and dreary to go to the boat Xmas sail past at Sidney, so that didn't happen.
Did go to a Strata council meeting Wow.

Catching up on the blogs (BLOG the most searched word on the net). Ken and Helen are back and preparing for the season. You want a good Egg Nog recipe she has one on her blog site (see right). We will be there for New Years and will get to test it, mmmmm, and she expects us to stay up til midnight????
Last night I went to a hockey game, yeah, right, me, hockey game. Salso were playing, or at least trying to. They lost 7 to 4. But it was enjoyable saw the new Arena at Juan de Fuca Rec Centre. Right across from the golf course we usually frequent. Now call the Bear Mountain Arena. In any event several of us got together as a goodbye to Rob, who is retiring soon and essentially moving away. Leo Mosley came over from Vancouver, Graham Heath arranged the event, and Gary Olmstead and Dave Christionson rounded out the sixsome. Afterward we retired to the 6 mile pub for eats and bevvies. Nice night.
This morning I was up bright and early with a Lions project at Lions cove, helping to build an area to hide the compost. In the rain yet. No wonder I have the sniffles right now.
Now for something technical. For those of you that might be interested in maximum protection of your computer I repeat here an email I got from a techno weenie buddy, Don Little. I use the programs mentioned and recommend them, although I would add Spyware Blaster as an additional tool (which is one recommended by Spybot itself). Use of these periodically after updating will clean viruses, spyware, malware, adware off your computer and keep them off. Here is his email.

Well I got in quickly to finish the root canal. There was a cancellation Wednesday morning 9:00 am so now it is done, well except for the temporary filling. Must go back 27 Dec, to get a permanent one. Man they sure drag this out. Anyhow, stage 1 root canal was nothing compared to stage 2. Jaw much sorer, after the fact, than the first stage. However, its easing up after two days.
Lions meeting last night, did my duty for the second meeting as acting treasurer, so once I do the banking part I am done and Paul can take it back. Hope he and Olga had a good trip, they did a cruise around the Mediteranean then they crossed the big blue sea to and through the Caribbean ending up at Fort Lauderdale. I'll find out how it went tomorrow. Probably great.
Just got home from the Central Bar and Grill, where the Victoria High school R&B band was playing. We went with Lyn and Alan because Alan's Colin and Ellie were both playing in the band. They were great. Of course they had the Decibels up beyond the range of human endurance, (my ears are still ringing) but it was enjoyable. Colin was on the trombone and Ellie sang. Really quite professional for a high school band.
Golfed today too. Had a good game after winning a golf card. We purchase 10 game golf cards which actually gives us 11 game, go figure. In any case when complete you put the card in a jar and once a month they draw one for a free card. Mine was drawn so I got a new card for free. Worth about $80 bucks. Yahooooo.
Hope I get to sleep with this ringing, ringing, ringing. nite nite.
