Piggy backing on highspeed is fun. I have been able to get my internet fix by using Ken's internet. I am now running XP-SP2 and running fine.

Having fun visiting with them again, even though they just visited us a month ago. Carolyn and Helen got their IKEA fix this afternoon, while Ken and I went to the Boeing Air Museum. My goodness what a great museum. I had visitied it about 2 years ago, but they have added a new section dedicated to the aircraft of the first and second world wars. Very well done. Then we went for a tour throught the Concorde that they now have on display. Those window look so small on the outside but look pretty normal from the inside. I was surprised at how many seats there were, and equally surprised that the head room was mostly about 6 foot to 6 foot one inch, as my head was almost always in contact with the ceiling. Quite a marvel of engineering, too bad the couldn't keep it going commercially.

Just finished one of Helen's wonderful meals. She such a great cook. So back to our motorhome stuffed and content. We are parked at Fort Lewis. We are in overflow parking as we didn't have reservations, but it is working out well. We wouldn't have been able to get in on our own, we needed a sponsor and Ken was able to do that. We will be here tomorrow and then Monday head north to Mikes, hopefully we should be there Wednesday.

I see from Dennis' blog that he is expressing his appreciation of Bob, apparently Bob is boob with one O. Catherine is visiting her Daddy for a few days.

TTFN, its great to sleep past 5:30 for a change.

Well we are almost done. Thought it would be today but apparently it is very difficult getting screws?????? We have a squeak in the floor and the mechanic can't seem to get the correct screws to repair the problem. All other repairs are done. The squeak is actually done too, but the rug has to be reattached which will be tomorrow morning then we will be on our way. We will be stopping by to visit the Kirkwoods and then continue North.

Carolyn is excited. They had a "how to drive a motorhome" for the ladies with actual driving of a big diesel motorhome. Carolyn took it and drove a diesel rig bigger than ours. She was thrilled and excited to do so and that has probably broken the ice for her to drive ours.

Tomorrow will make it a week that we have been here, and despite the many things they have to do here, what with seminars, tours, classes we are glad to be on our way. We must admit that Monaco does look after their customers.

Anyhoo my next blog may be from Steilacoom, Kirkwoods place. Yes we have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow morning, durn it.

We still aren't sure when we are leaving. Most of the work is done but they continue to do additional work on the leaking slide. Their shower testing is still showing a minor leak that they want to work out. One other item is awaiting parts. And though they don't know it yet I noticed that the "ABS" brake light was remaining on when I took it to do a dump. I'll be informing them of that one tomorrow. So maybe we will be done tomorrow (Thurs) maybe not. Maybe we will head North Friday (he says hopefully). The hard part is that today and tomorrow they decided to go into overtime mode. They do that in the morning, they want the motorhome at 6:00 am, which means we were up at 5:30 am this morning and will be again tomorrow morning. Yeeuucchhh. Well its 7:00 pm,(feels like 11:00) time for bed, nitey nite.

Harrisburg still.
We enjoyed a quiet weekend in Harrisburg. We got 3 movies from the local video store; 3 for $5.00 for 3 days, all “chick flicks” of course. “What Women want”, “Iris” and “Oh Brother where art thou”. Actually I had seen the 3rd one (not a chick flick, really) but Carolyn hadn’t and I wanted to see it again. We quite enjoyed all 3. Not much else to do in Harrisburg. Junction City, though bigger, doesn’t have much more.

Our Rig went in for its first day of fixing “owies”. They estimate 3 days, which if they keep on schedule means we won’t be leaving until Thursday. A little later than expected. Monaco does look after its customer’s here. Free camping, laundry and two nice lounges with all the amenities; also winery tours, seminars (e.g. inverter seminar today) and craft classes. Neat.

We finally got some rain, which cooled the hot spell they have had locally. Also was good timing since the bedroom slide leaked again and we could show them first hand the problem.

Speedy recover Lyn! She had surgery today removing a gangleon (lump) on her hand. On Rachel's Birthday too. Have a Happy Birthday Rachel, we love you.

We are looking forward to heading north to Mike and Charlene’s. Might be a day or two later but we will get there. Well back to the crosswords and to bed early, they take the motor-home away from us at 7:00 am, and we are not supposed to be in it.

Blogging again hoowhee....

Well we are in Harrisburg, home of two of the Monaco Service centers. We had a grand time at the Rally in Redmond. We got to the holding area Saturday evening for our 8-12 Sunday morning parking time. We met up with another of our Vancouver Island bunch Ken Williams, he and his wife had been cooling their heels since 9 that morning. Anyhow, at the appointed time Sunday morning, they tell there is no room at the rally. This we didn’t want to hear. However, if we were willing to go into a 24hr a day generator site then we could leave immediately to park at Deschutes Fair Grounds the site of the Rally, which we did. It would be easy to complain that if we arrive prior to our appointed time we should get parked where we expect to be parked, but considering they have to park 4000 rigs within a couple of days, it is amazing that they got it done at all. In addition there were many commercial rigs as well, probably another 200 on display. One of which was for sale at 1.45 million dollars. A rally in Texas (of course ) had 7200 rigs, a couple of years ago. The 24 hour generator site was bad at all. Most rigs shut them down mid evening and so we were quite comfy there.

There sure was a lot to see and do; many seminars, many dealers and rigs, many exhibits and entertainment. I, as National Director for our chapter, went to a Governing Body meeting all day Monday, much of which was as boring as one would expect of a meeting with some 400 people attending. There was the prerequisite 5% of those picking nits to ensure the meeting dragged on, however a learned a few things about FMCA. The biggest problem was the heat. Although we didn’t see any 100 + temperature we were riding up in the mid 90’s most days, which felt much hotter in the sun. We did have a thunderstorm come through one evening which was very refreshing.

Kathie and Carolyn went to some microwave/convection oven seminars, Andy went to a Workhorse Chassis seminar, and I went to a Ford maintenance seminar. We also took in several others including Satellite TV. Entertainment wise, we saw Frankie, Dean and Sammy, 3 guys impersonating, guess who? You got it. Frankie, Dean and Sammy. They were quite good. The next night we saw another Frankie, namely Frankie Avalon, in person, with his band which included two of his sons. He didn’t look it but Frankie is 64, and he put on a good show. The last night was The Kingston Trio and the Brothers 4. However, we missed that as we wanted roll out early before the rush and we wanted to get to Coburg to take in the Monaco Factory tour. This tour was quite good. Its amazing to see acres of parts, most of which are built on site, coming together into a motorhome. It takes 3 months on average to build one, but they are building many simultaneously. Glad we went to it, gives one a better appreciation of what goes into them.

After this Andy and Kathie had to be on their way to Portland and Saskatoon, while we headed for Coburg and our scheduled appointment with Monaco service. Of course our appointment is for 10:00 am Monday, and we arrived by Noon on the Friday previous. Much to our delight they have a campsite that they put us up in, and which we can stay in until we are done. Nice campground too. All the services we need, except cable TV. We just toured around Harrisburg, (about 6 blocks of downtown) then went to Junction City which is much bigger. About 20 blocks of downtown. It is 93 degrees on the Frau N. Height scale, and this was supposed to be a cooler day. HMmmmmm.

Well that is about it. We are here for a few days and if all goes well we will be on the road Tuesday, heading North.

Glad to see Lyn’s blog, good reading, keep it up dear. Of course, always enjoy Dennis’ blog, he is a hard one to keep up to. Must go find a place to blog this TTFN.

"On the road again, its good to be on the road again......."

We are on our way in a couple of hours. Glad to hear Dennis' computer TV card is working too. Good effort. And that "Educational Programming" is superb too.

I'll blog and email when I can.

Toodley Doo.

Had the motorhome in for its third trip to Suburban Ford. This time to check out the dropping coolant level. No puddles underneath, so it is losing it under pressure only. Right on. Leak in hose to water pump, bad clamp and it leaked under pressure only. So now it is ready to travel.

Passed on my old laptop to Rachel on Sunday and she was very thrilled. We did that so I wouldn't have to fix her old (how do you say doorstop) computer. Of course I had to buy a new one so the plan could come together. Alan and Lyn had purchased the necessary equipment to go wireless, so I spent much of the afternoon putting that up for them. Works a charm once it is done, I even have the security running passerby's can log in. Since we won't be here for Rachel's birthday we had a very nice dinner (Alan did a roast beast and Yorkshire pudding-talented guy that he is) and we gave her, her birthday present, a printer to go along with all this computer stuff. Alan and Lyn got her a new desk so she is getting all set for college this fall.

We leave this Friday for the rally in Oregon (still can't get over the fact there will be 5000 rigs there. Then on to Monaco Factory, for a tour and to get some coach work done. The north to see the New Aiyansh bunch of Ousey's. We haven't seen them for two year, and we are looking forward to it. Then in October we will be visiting Winnipeg in stages, for details see Dennis' blog. Essentially Carol goes to Wpg for a few days and brings back Mom, she stays here for awhile and then I fly her back and stay in Wpg for a few days. Good plan I think.

Dennis' computer crashed so we spent some time on the phone over that one. See his blog for that story too.

Just came home from a fine dinner with Ken and Bernadette. Always great seeing them and catching up with things.

TTFN , so Flog your Blog.

Talk about wiped. I had muscles hurting that I didn't know I had. Bike rides, Tues and Wednesday, worked on getting battery compartment ready for 2 additional 6 volt batteries for the MHome. Working down low under a compartment door that keeps you crouched. Then installed and wired the two batteries the next morning, and golfed 18 holes with Bob Blacklaws that afternoon. Shot an 84 too. Mind you it is a par 67 course, still and all not to bad. Bob had a 91 and he was 76 last month. Hmmmm. He had no problem walking 18 holes, the back 9 are hilly too.

Any how been getting the rig ready for the trip. We leave next Friday. Also been fixing a lot of computers, laptops etc. Going to Lyn's tomorrow to set them for Wi - Fi. They are going wireless on there 3 computers. More on that later. We are getting dinner out of it.

Went to see the Manchurian Candidate last week. Even the ladies came with us guys this time. All enjoyed it though all agreed it didn't come up to the original. Even so Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep did great jobs and held it all together. Of course if you know the story there wasn't too many surprises.

See that Jack and the boys are back home and all is quiet at the D. Ousey residence. Looks like a good time was had by all. Carolyn and I will be making the trip, probably by air and likely Oct - Nov time frame. Must take a closer look at that since we are leaving in a week.

Sent a warning notice up North to New Aiyansh that we are headed that way by months end. Got a read receipt back so I know they got it.

Blog Blog Blog your thoughts.....

The cousins day out on the town.
The girls took this one in a booth and took a picture of it.

Then I took of a picture of them when they dropped in for a visit.
They had a carload worth of shopping, had a great day and were headed out for more fun and then a sleep over at Chelsea's. Real sweet of them all to do this together. Great kids.

Its Raining. Woowee. Haven't seen rain in 6 weeks. Hope this is widespread enough for it to have an affect on the forest fire situation.

The anniversary party at the McKeevers was a smashing success. One thing about Sooke, the breeze off the water keeps it cool. The food was great and speaking of smashing success. Ken Merkley was able to smash a Bocci ball with a high flyer into a bunch of rocks. I have never seen a Bocci ball break up so neatly. Good party thanks to the McKeevers and Prices, well done. Congratulations are in order for Errol. He has just learned that he was selected as BC's Deputy Auditor General. Excellent!

Got some more prep work done on the Rig. You know, top up the liquids, (batteries, coolant, oil, WW Fluid, etc), same for car. Had a nice dinner at John and Sue's and went to see the "Manchurian Candidate". It wasn't as good as the original, but not bad, tho, John and I liked it better than the girls. We were supposed to go with Andy & Kathie, as well as John and Sue Van Shaik, but due to a mix-up on my part they went to the Capitol while we went to the University.

It is Andy's birthday today, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY. We will be seeing them at My Chosin cafe tonight. Carolyn is quite happy, she hasn't had to cook for 5 nights straight. We met Noni and Chelsea for dinner at Jasmines, Sunday night. It seems the only way we can get to visit with them these days, they are both so busy.

Speaking of Chelsea, she and Rachel are taking Megan out for a day. David has Megan for two weeks, so the girls are taking advantage of it. It is really so nice to see them all get along so well. Rachel and Chelsea are as good as sister's, maybe better in a way, as there is no sibling rivalry. For both of them to get together and include Megan is really neat.

Well off for my bike ride. Been managing 7-8 miles per trip, 3 times a week.

Hey its Margot's birthday tomorrow (today by the time you read this).

Happy Birthday Margot. with love Uncle Gary and Auntie Carolyn.

Jack and his boys, Jamie and Andrew, have arrived in Winnipeg and all are enjoying each other's company. Pictures and commentary at Dennis' blog. (See links on the right). Say hi for us Dennis and maybe we can "Yahoo" one night. Been busy this weekend.

Friday I had the motorhome in to fix an owie. The secondary pressure system for the brakes was intermittent and they found a loose wire. I'll feel more comfortabe now driving it.

Saturday morning, Carolyn had a little cry. She automatically went to look for Chuffley's food to feed him, then immediately realized it and broke down, so did I. We miss him.

Saturday afternoon we went to our annual Cruise Group BBQ, and it was a smashing success as usual. Mike and Gail really go out for this event, preparing games etc. They hand out monopoly money to everyone and the coupe with the most money wins a prize. Often a piece of his woodwork, and he is an excellent craftsman. This year was dart through at balloons for prizes, monopoly money, or little gifts. Between Carolyn and myself we won 3 lint rollers LOL. He also utilizes kids plastic golf equipment (with badminton type golf balls) for a hole-in-one competition (using a small hoop as the hole) and a putting contest that has 14 holes. A deck of cards is shuffled and one card placed in each hole and then contestents bet money and then putt 5 balls. The highest hand wins the pot. To even out the skills you must bank it off the sides of the putting lane. All in all great fun, great food and great company.

Today we have a double anniversary party (BBQ) to attend. It is Maragaret and Errol's 34th Wedding anniversary, and they got married on the same day as Maragarets sister Kaye and her husband Brian, who are celabrating their 40th today. They have a nice house in Sooke and that is where the party is. (As an aside today was also Grampa Georges birthday, in years past we have celebrated all 3 at once.) Kaye and Brian have a nice house in Sooke and that is where the BBQ is happening. More news later on that one.

In fact must go get ready. It is an afternoon affair. I'll keep my Yahoo on for the next few days.
