We moved ourselves from Mary Hill to the Sandown Racetrack for our Vancouver Islanders (FMCA) chapter rally. We set up on Thursday and over 50 rigs arrived by Friday evening. After 4 of us cooked up a hundred or so hamburgers and 100 or so hot dogs, we were entertained by a native guitar picker, who was excellent. Chet Atkins move over. Saturday we had a meeting and games followed by Roast Beast dinner, and an evening dampened by cool winds and some rain. Overall a great Rally.

Now we get to stay home for awhile.

I see Dennis has already moved on from the (FLY) foldable land yacht to a RV, a trailer with lot included. Sounds like a great deal. Hard to tow the yard though, then maybe that's the point.

Gotta go find the clubs, golfing tomorrow.

Thought for the day
Politics is supposed to be the second oldest
profession. I have come to realize that it bears
a very close resemblance to the first

Well, we are back in for the day. We have been at Mary Hill 10days or so. We had our clean up weekend this past weekend. Heavy rain Friday night and some rain during the day but it cleared up nicely for the Roast Beast dinner. Nothing like a humungous roast done on a spit for several hours. It was great. Unfortunately the 5 gallons of gravy got dumped after only a dozen people got some, fortunately the youngster it fell on wasn't hurt. One of the ladies got a surprise when a gust of wind dislodged some trapped water on the tarp and dumped on her. Eyes as big a saucer's she had.

We will remain there for two more days then head to the Vancouver Islander's rally at Sandown Racetrack for the coming weekend.

Got an Email from Jack and he is travelling, with the boys, to Winnipeg for the first week of August. It is nice that Mother won't have to travel, but it would have been nice to have them all here too. Next time maybe.

Looks like we are in for some more rain. Can't complain. We really need it, it has been a very dry spring and they have been talking of campfire bans already, two months early.

Well back to the campground and what could be a last campfire. lol

Good pictures on me brothers blog:

Prairie Dog Blog

Came in last night from the campground for my Lions meeting. Installation night. Did a Newsletter for it as I am the Bulletin Editor for the club again. Great dinner. Roast Beast, what can I say.

Great weather, but already they are talking fire ban. I think we are OK for the weekend, but if we don't get rain soon it will be a terrible year for fires.

Well gotta go. Bob Blacklaws is still having email problems, so lets see if I can fix it, then back to the campground.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Thought for the day
Always get the last word in: Apologize.

We are at Mary Hill "camping". The weather, though sunny, has been coolish. Ideal for camp fires. So we are gathering and chopping wood and generally sitting around enjoying the company of fellow campers.

We are in town today to get a few more provisions for the weekend.

We see that gas is now 98.5, with no discounts. Can't figure it all out when some places in the country are still under 80 cents. There just isn't that much difference in taxes to make up the discrepancy.

That's my rant for the day.

Keep blogging

Thought for the day
All of us could take a lesson from the weather.
It pays no attention to criticism.

Well I wash the car yesterday and it rained all night. However, today is sunny and expected to stay that way for a few days, if you can believe the forecast. Just saw the snow in Winnipeg on the news. Some heavy slush. Hope you don't get any freezing rain.

Just about ready to go and take out the Rig to Mary Hill campground. We are heading out early to get settled and will stay for two weeks. However, it isn't too far so we will be back at the house periodically. Although we have electricity out there we don't have phone service, except for the cell phone which I will have on. But I won't be online while out there.

Had a small mole removed from my neck today. It is benign, but had changed in shape and became crusty, so the Doc said better to remove it. It was at the collar line and was somewhat a nuisance as well. Right now its sore.

Well, I will try to keep up the blog, but it may get sporadic over the next two weeks.

Keep on blogging

Thought for the day
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday,
lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

So whats up the past few days. Had a Lion's meeting Wednesday, found out I was to be the Lions Newsletter editor again. Since I look after the Lion's web page I guess it is a good fit. I can put the newsletter on the web page and only have to print a dozen for the luddites in the club.

I am trying this new Gmail (Google Mail) so most of you would have seen my email changing my Email address to gousey@gmail.com. It is interesting to use and has a few different features that I am trying out. As a blogger Dennis and I were invited to try it out. It isn't available generally yet.

Noni and Chelsea have taken Carolyn on a mother's day outing to Nanaimo today. Speaking of Noni she is sure enjoying her job at the Ridge Golf Course. I am taking the guys to golf there next Thursday. Just got to try it out. It is a short par 3 course. It also has an 18 hole putting course which we try as well.

We will be heading for Mary Hill campground on the 13th for a couple of weeks. It is the other military campground besides Nanoose. It is located nearby in Metchosin. With the price of gas right now we don't want to go to far.

Dennis is complaining that the price of gas in Winnipeg is 84.5 (81 after a 3.5 cent discount) Well it is 95.9 here with no discount. 97.9 in Vancouver. Ouch. Kathie just got back from Portland OR, where she says it is about 2.35 USD/USGal, Washington too. double Ouch.

Happy Mother's day to all you mother's out there.

Thought for the day
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day;
teach that person to use the Internet and they won't
bother you for weeks.

Hoowhee, haven't blogged yet this month.

Lets see, Noni got a new computer and I helped set it up, move Chelsea's computer and get them talking to each other, the computers that is. Of course the Sasser virus was running rampant so had to make sure all the updates were done. Usually with a new computer, 6 months of updates are usually missing. That took awhile on Saturday. Got to finish it all this afternoon. While I was at it, I spent some time making sure my computers were fully secure.

The weekend was nice, but its been raining both yesterday and today. Managed to golf this morning just the same. The rain was light.

So my Brother Dennis will be visiting again this summer. They are headed for Vancouver for a friends anniversary (1st week in July) and visiting their daughter Margot and her husband Joel. While at this end of the country they plan on coming over to the Island too. That will be very nice. Nothing definite yet, but other brother Jack is looking into coming for the first week in August, and maybe my Mom will visit too. More on that later.

Here is a funny for you guys out there, hey girls there are some funny parts in it, have chuckle.

We always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! Please note... these are all numbered "1"
ON PURPOSE!

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.

1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

1. If you won't dress like the Victoria 's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.

1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say nothing," we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...Really.

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.

1. Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; but did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
