Cruise is done.

After two days at sea, the cruise is coming to an end.  Bags packed & outside the door. Tomorrow we fly back to Casa Grande. With the exception of a naggy cough that we both had, we had a great time, particularly meeting people. We met a lovely couple that are from Vancouver, that we intend to visit, when we pass through Vancouver, on the way home, in early April. We will also be visiting Chelsea, and if available, Margot, Joel  & family.

Cruise update

The last few days have been great. Arica Chile is small town in Northern Chile, where it hasn't rained in 40 years. Water is expensive. The landscape is bleak, but the city is bustling and our guide just loved showing it off.  We then stopped in Lima , Peru a big city of 22 million, also doesn't get any rain, but we liked the small city of Arica better. The guide said she is going to take her kids somewhere rainy, because they haven't seen rain. The weather since has been warming up, and it was hot & humid in Manta Ecuador, they do get rain there. We crossed the equator last  night and tomorrow we enter the Panama Canal. That will be interesting.

Cruise one

The first of our back to back cruises, ends tomorrow & the next one starts. It was great, the food superb and the entertainment really wonderful. Pictures of our port visits cannot be uploaded yet, I should really try taking some with my tablet which I can upload, but my camera's are easier to carry and shoot with. The scenery has been amazing, as is the ship & crew. Now we do another two weeks including the Panama. Whoowhee.

Montevideo & Punta del Esta.

Yesterday we enjoyed a bus tour around the city of Montvideo, Uruguay. About 4 hours long with an excellent guide, Gerardo. Very knowledgeable and well spoken. We toured the down town areas then some of the suburbs where the rich folk live. Today we were in Punta del Esta, Uruguay, on another bus tour and much to our surprise the same tour guide. Apparently the company was short handed, and hauled him out of bed and got home to Punta, and it was coincidence that we ended up on his bus. He again did a great job. This city is certainly a resort city of the rich and famous. Many beautiful homes & condos. Superb beaches, very enjoyable tour. A sea day tomorrow, we ca n sleep in.

We Survived Darwin

We were all were all impressed with Darwin. It was very hot & humid, but we managed by skipping from one air conditioned spot to another. It was a thoroughly modern city, mainly due to the fact that the city was destroyed by a typhoon in the late 70s, then completely rebuilt.

We continue to enjoy the great food and entertainment provided and, of course, the company of our cruise buddies. A are currently sailing over the great Barrier reef & and will be in Cairns tomorrow, where we hope to get a closer look.
